Para-Military Forces of India 🇮🇳
India’s para-military forces — including the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Assam Rifles — are the nation’s trusted frontline forces, defenders, securing its borders and protecting against various external and internal threats. The BSF safeguards our frontiers with Pakistan, China, Nepal and Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, across land, water, and air. Meanwhile, the ITBP stands strong at the China border, and the SSB defends our borders with Nepal and Bhutan. The Coast Guard, alongside the Navy, patrols India’s extensive coastline, ensuring security from external threats and supporting the fight against terrorism in Kashmir, Naxalism, and insurgencies in the NorthEast, where they work in unison with the Army,CRPF, CISF, and Assam Rifles.
Despite their critical role in India’s defense system, para-military personnel often do not receive the same recognition or welfare benefits as the Army, Navy, and Air Force. 💪 However, in recognition of their service, the Government of India issued an official memorandum(G.O) on 23 November, 2012, urging all states and union territories to ensure that para-military forces should be given welfare measures equivalent to those of the Ex-servicemen of Armed Forces. This is a significant step toward ensuring that these brave personnel are granted the respect, support, and care they deserve for their dedicated service to the nation. 🇮🇳
